From Kentucky to Chianti.
SoCal to Southeast Asia.
It takes unique personalities, and and an odd blend of skills to take on, not just adventure, but bringing others along for the phone. Vic & James are just the sort of guys you need.
Born in the in remote and mysterious depths of South Louisiana, just outside of New Orleans, James’ passion for sharing stories and celebrating life over good food and wine was instilled in him from birth, so when the call of the road came, sounding more like a freight train than some ethereal whisper, James, unable to resist its power, jumped out of the pirogue, and in with both feet. Leaving after college, in a state of complete and utter wanderlust, he left in search of eternal sunshine: summers in Europe, and winters in the warm abodes of Southern Africa and the Middle East. He led a group of friends on a vast expidition-like adventure, Marco Polo style, along the old Silk Route. Departing Venice, they headed through Eastern Europe via the historic Orient Express to Istanbul, then on to Georgia, Iran, Pakistan (with a teeny weeny stop in Afghanistan,) India, and Nepal on the way to the mystery and intrigue of China. Returning across Asia alone, he decided to make Italy his home, and opened a business with an Italian partner which booked Villa and Castle dream vactaions for English speaking clientel. His stints as a tour guide, leading travellers from Portugal to Prague, London to Rome, as a Safari guide in Zimbabwe, and doing everything from diving with Great Whites to skydiving over New Zealand, means L & S is the natural extension of his life-long passions, and probably the only thing he is even remotely qualified to do. James lives in Silver Lake with his beautiful wife Dunia, and their son, Enzo.
Raised among the bluegrass horse farms (and world class distilleries) of Kentucky, Vic set out in pursuit of Major League dreams with a baseball scholarship in California. But meeting the woman of his dreams, and sensing an urge to start a family, meant a return to his boyhood home. Putting the Cincinatti Reds on hold, Vic’s creative side developed, first as a graphic artist and eventually into the sharp eye of a professional photographer. With an artist’s grant, he began shooting all across the country, with stops in Chicago, Yellowstone, New York City and more. He is now one of the country’s premier wedding photgrpaher specialists, hosting workshops and conferences around the globe and shooting weddings in some of the world’s most exotic locales. In his proffesional travels, and his leisure time, he pursues his passions for whiskey, photography, and collecting ephemera from the four corners of the globe, all with unbridled excitement and more than just a tinge of madness. Vic lives in Los Angeles with his wife Rachel, and their 4 children, Asa, Elijah, Evy, and Sammy.
